DIONNE WARWICK

Artist. Ambassador. Legend.

SISTER CITIES INTERNATIONAL is proud to present Dionne Warwick: Do You Know The Way To San Jose as part of the international annual conference.  This year, the exciting capital of Silicon Valley will be the host to over a thousand conference participants, elected and municipal officials, engaged citizens, diplomats and business leaders who travel to the epic center of technological innovation to discuss “The Power of Digital Diplomacy.”  And who is better to show them the way than the one-and-only Dionne Warwick who received her very first GRAMMY®Award in 1968 for her mega-hit, “Do You Know the Way to San Jose?”

No one will forget these mega-hits during over 50 years of her stellar career: Don’t Make Me Over, Walk On By, Alfie, I’ll Never Fall in Love Again and many more.  With five GRAMMY® Awards, 75 Top 100 on the Billboard Chart, over 100 million records sold and numerous prestigious awards, Ms. Warwick has been an icon of American pop music and culture.  But it was her humanitarian and charity work that defines Ms.Warwick as some one much more than an artist. Always one to give back, Warwick has supported and campaigned for many causes and charities close to her heart, including AIDS, The Starlight Foundation, children’s hospitals, world hunger, disaster relief and music education for which she has been recognized and honored and has raised millions of dollars. In 1987, she was appointed the first United States Ambassador of Health by President Ronald Reagan and in 2002, served as Global Ambassador for Health and Ambassador for the United Nations’ Food & Agriculture Organization (FAO), and she continues to serve as Ambassador today.  Ms. Warwick orchestrated the first major hit recording to raise international awareness and funds for AIDS & AMFAR, "That's What Friends Are For" with Elton John, Gladys Knight & Stevie Wonder, and in 1984, performed at “Live Aid.”

Having just celebrated her 50th Anniversary in music,  Ms.Warwick continues to entertain the world with her legendary voice.  On July 1, 2014, Warwick will release a star-studded duets album titled “Feels So Good,” featuring collaborations with some of today’s greatest artists including, Jamie Foxx, Billy Ray Cyrus, Ne-Yo, Gladys Knight, Cee Lo Green, Cyndi Lauper and many more, being released through Bright Music Records/Caroline/Capitol.  This is the best time to catch Ms. Warwick LIVE in San Jose.  Get your tickets HERE.
